2020 Was the Best Year For...

(TheRedWire.com) – From pandemic lockdowns to job losses, protests, political unrest, and even all-out riots, 2020 was an incredibly tough year. Stare at all that doom and gloom a little too long, and you might even find yourself feeling a little down. Absolutely no one could blame you for feeling that way if you did.

But here’s a little fact that might surprise you: things weren’t necessarily all bad. In fact, Fox News recently summed up 20 examples of silver linings to brighten up your day.

All across the world, people came together to be more and achieve more than ever before, stress be damned. Neighbors in England safely beat social distancing guidelines by singing and dancing in the rain (from a healthy six feet apart, of course). Reading Rainbow and Star Trek:TNG actor Levar Burton read to the quarantined online, keeping them entertained and relaxed. And at least one woman hosted a virtual Thanksgiving for those who were feeling alone — a testament to the human ability to persevere.

Signs of human progress were also present. SpaceX successfully launched its first two astronauts into space, paving a path to the future across the sky. In the world of medicine, doctors successfully implanted a decades-old embryo for the first time, letting a hopeful mom finally meet her child after nearly 22 years. Thousands of manufacturers also voluntarily overhauled their factories to create PPE, helping nurses and doctors stay safe.

Fred Rogers once said, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’” That sentiment is especially true when the times we live in leave us feeling out of control, afraid, and challenged.

So, the next time you feel as if there’s nothing to hope for, look around. Find the helpers. Find the good in the world. Or, become the good in the world, yourself. It’s still out there, waiting for you to find it.

What do you think? What’s the silver lining in your 2020? Reply and let us know. We can’t wait to hear from you…
