(TheRedWire.com) – Eric Early, one of the 2024 GOP Senate opponents of Rep. Adam Schiff, has criticized him for not acknowledging the increase in crime in California, especially following the recent surge in smash-and-grab robberies.
In the past few years, there has been a sharp increase in crime in Los Angeles, and most recently, smash-and-grab robberies have led to many department stores reporting huge losses. A Nordstrom store reported that the theft of merchandise is estimated to have been worth anywhere between $60,000 to $100,000.
Los Angeles’ conservatives have been quick to attack the progressives on the policies relating to crime and the zero cash bail, stating that these policies have been the reason for the increase in crime. Early in his recent statement argued that Schiff has remained completely quiet about the thefts and has not addressed the situation.
He added the district attorney, who has Schiff’s support, has so far refused to file charges for burglary or felony theft, which has meant that people have started to believe that they can commit theft without facing the consequences. Schiff’s silence is also evidence that he favors the criminal culture developed in the area.
Last week, a Yves Saint Laurent store located in Schiff’s district in Glendale, California, was hit by dozens of thieves who could steal around $300,000 in merchandise within a few minutes. Schiff has avoided commenting about the Glendale smash-and-grab theft or any other theft in the state.
