(TheRedWire.com) – In August 2020, then-17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse shot and killed two people during riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Since then, the media has attempted to spin their own narrative on the events that took place. While rioters looted, burned, and destroyed property, Rittenhouse said he felt an obligation to support his community and protect it as much as possible. The media tried to paint him as a vigilante. Famed attorney and Harvard Law School Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz had some hard words for the media regarding their trial coverage during a November 14, 2021 interview.
.@AlanDersh believes "CNN and some of the other TV stations have become vigilantes" in seeking to indict Kyle Rittenhouse before the conclusion of his trial.
"They’re the ones who are trying to influence justice without regard to evidence or the law." https://t.co/WRwonXMnT3

During the trial, a key witness admitted he pointed a gun at the young man before Rittenhouse shot him. Other witnesses to the August 2020 incident also suggested Rittenhouse was acting in self-defense. Dershowitz said the trial proved to him Rittenhouse wasn’t a murderer but a young man defending himself. Dershowitz turned his ire on the media and claimed they were the true vigilantes. He argued they tried to tip the scales of justice through their narrative instead of going by the facts, evidence, and law.
Specifically, the famed attorney said the jury should acquit Rittenhouse. Yet, according to him, CNN committed journalist malfeasance by acting as the communications arm of the mob, MSNBC was a bunch of race hustlers, and The New Yorker behaved like journalistic vigilantes.
