(TheRedWire.com) – Business leaders quickly reacted to President Joe Biden’s announcement to withdraw from the race.
After Biden announced he wouldn’t accept the Democratic Party’s nomination on Sunday, writing that serving as President “has been the greatest honor” of his life, he would be stepping aside “in the best interest of” the Democratic Party.
Shortly after publishing that statement, Biden threw his full support behind Vice President Kamala Harris to become the Democrat nominee. He wrote on X that Harris was his “first decision” when he was nominated in 2020 and “the best decision” he ever made.
After publishing his announcement to X, several prominent business leaders took to X to express their opinion on Biden’s withdrawal.
This is what they had to say:
Elon Musk
Billionaire Elon, who endorsed former President Donald Trump publicly last week, shared he’d continue to support Trump-Vance in the upcoming election despite Biden dropping out of the race.
Musk suggested his “smartest friends,” including “lifelong Dems, are excited about Trump/Vance.”
Musk elaborates that he believes “in an America that maximizes individual freedom and merit,” claiming that it was once the Democratic Party but now was the Republican Party.
Bill Ackman
Bill Ackman, the billionaire hedge fund manager who also publicly endorsed Trump, predicted Harris would become the Democratic party’s Presidential nominee because if she didn’t become the nominee, “it would be an acknowledgment that she was never qualified to be vice president.”
Mark Cuban
Longtime Trump critic and entrepreneur Mark Cuban responded to Biden’s announcement on X with his post, claiming “Father Time is undefeated.”
Cuban, who earlier in the year said he’d vote for Biden in a Trump-Biden rematch, even if the President were “being given last rites,” had recently expressed being open to Democrats replacing Biden on the ticket.
Reid Hoffman
LinkedIn’s Billionaire co-founder Reid Hoffman — a longtime critic of Trump and Democrat megadonor — lauded Biden’s withdrawal as “one of the most selfless acts… seen from a politician” in modern U.S. history.
He concluded by endorsing Harris, saying she is “the right person at the right time.”
Reed Hastings
Netflix’s co-founder and executive chair, billionaire Reed Hastings, who had called on Biden to withdraw from the race following his disastrous debate performance, wrote that delegates for the Democratic Party should “pick a swing state winner.”
