(TheRedWire.com) – On Sunday, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., during an interview with Dana Bash on CNN’s “State of the Union,” was asked about the recent congressional testimony of Joseph Ziegler, an IRS whistleblower.
During her appearance, Pelosi stated that she was “not confident” in Ziegler’s testimony about the Hunter Biden investigation and instead criticized the House hearing arguing that it was a “ridiculous clown show.”
Bash then asked Pelosi whether she believed politics influenced the Wednesday hearing. This hearing marked the first time that Ziegler was identified as one of the whistleblowers. Gary Shapley, his IRS supervisor, also testified on that same day. The two claimed that political interference had blocked the investigation and prosecutorial decisions regarding Hunter Biden’s probe.
Pelosi, in response, stated that the hearing was a “clown show.” She also referenced the moment in the hearing with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., a Democratic presidential candidate, whom she initially referred to as Joe Kennedy.
She then asked what the Republicans had done by bringing Kennedy to talk about censorship. She further pointed out that during the congressional hearing, they had also shown photos that did not relate to the investigation.
Bash then questioned whether Pelosi felt sure that there had been no influence from politics in the investigation by the Department of Justice. In response, Pelosi argued that a Trump appointee had been the U.S. attorney. She added that she respected the whistleblowers for choosing to come forward but was not confident in their testimony.
