(TheRedWire.com) – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez’s (D-N.Y.) former top aide had lined his pockets using the donor funds from his No Excuses political action committee. The money he received from the PAC was allegedly for consulting work, even though the PAC had spent only the minimum possible amounts towards its actual mission.

Corbin Trent, who had assisted Ocasio-Cortez win her office by serving as her communication director in 2019 and had exited her campaign in 2020 had formed his PAC after his departure from Cortez’s campaign. The No Excuses PAC was launched in 2021 to get rid of the Senate filibuster and targeting senators Kirsten Sinema, I-Ariz and Joe Manchin, D-W.Va.

However, the Pac’s recent reports showed that there had been minimal funds spent on either of these endeavors. Still, Trent had paid himself close to $140,000 from February 2021 to September 2023 for his providing management and communications consulting.

The Federal Election Commission filings further show that during that time Trent’s group had ended up spending only $14,831 on radio ads that were targeting the two senators. This means that the PAC had spent 1/10 of what Trent had received as payment on one of their goals.

Trent had previously told The Daily Beast that his television appearances had earned him money which had then been used to further the PAC’s mission. However, the publication did note that his payments to himself had remained consistent even at times when he made no television appearances. Trent has declined to make any further comments following the recent publications.
