(TheRedWire.com) – President Biden has recently claimed the allegations of family payments from Hunter Biden’s business associate are “not true.” However, Gatestone Institute senior fellow Gordon Chang has noted there has been an admission previously.

During an appearance on “Mornings with Maria” on Monday, Chang noted that a spokesperson for Hunter Biden’s legal team had previously noted the transactions were “okay because this was good faith seed money.” He added that millions of dollars in payments were never made without a contract being in place.

On Thursday, according to documents acquired by the House Oversight Committee’s Republicans, there were a number of payments made to the president’s son (Hunter), brother (Jim), and widow of the president’s late son (Beau) from Hunter’s business associate Rob Walker and their joint venture with Chinese energy firm CEFC.

On Thursday, a spokesperson for Hunter Biden’s legal team confirmed that those who had received the payments included “Hunter, his uncle, Hallie, and nobody else.”

Biden was also asked to be a reporter on the White House lawn on Friday about the payments, however, Biden denied them stating that it was “not true.” Hunter’s legal team also slammed Republicans for this “baseless right-wing conspiracy theory” with a spokesperson noting the payment was part of “good faith seed funds.”

Chang noted this statement by the spokesperson is essentially “an admission of corruption” and the House Oversight Committee would undoubtedly “follow up on this.” He added that in the real world, this does not occur “in the absence of payoffs, influence peddling and, yes, corruption.”
