(TheRedWire.com) – On Monday, President Biden expressed support for his son Hunter Biden ahead of his criminal trial in Delaware but stated that he would not make any comments about the trial itself.

In a statement, Biden argued that while he was the President, he was also a dad and that he and the first lady loved their son and were proud of him. He added that Hunter Biden has shown resilience while facing adversity and that his recovery had been very inspiring to all of them. He continued by pointing out that many families who have members who have overcome addiction will understand what they mean.

Biden stated that as the President he would not be making any comments regarding pending federal cases, but that as a father he continues to have respect and love for his son. He noted that their family has gone through a lot and that they would continue to support and be there for Hunter and the rest of their family.

This latest statement by Biden further underscores the balance that he is attempting to achieve as he is trying to continue being impartial on legal issues involving the Department of Justice while trying to support his son.

Hunter Biden is currently facing charges for having lied on a federal form while purchasing a firearm in 2018. On the form he had written that he was not a drug user, despite the fact that at the time he was a cocaine addict.

Hunter Biden has documented his struggles with addiction in his memoir.
