(TheRedWire.com) – On Saturday, President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign put out a new bilingual video in which they attacked former President Donald Trump for pushing against the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy of the Obama administration. The 2012 program provides protection to those immigrants who had been brought illegally into the United States as children.
In the video, there are many DACA recipients, or Dreamers, featured, who are using a mix of English and Spanish to address Trump by name. With their comments, they attack Trump’s recent anti-immigration rhetoric while praising the Biden administration for their efforts to offer them more protection.
During the video, one of the recipients, Mario as he is identified, argued that Biden had a record of protecting people like him. Similarly, a different Dreamer, Maria, argued that the Biden-Harris administration had shown commitment to protecting the DACA policy and pointed out that they were even looking to expand eligibility to the Affordable Care Act to those who are protected under DACA.
They further called former President Donald Trump out, who is the presumptive Republican nominee, for attempting to separate “Dreamers” and “demonizing” immigrants.
As part of the clip, there are also a few of Trump’s remarks such as his comments about immigrants “poisoning the blood of our country,” a phrase which many have pointed out is incredibly similar to the rhetoric that had been used in Nazi Germany.
For years Trump has attacked immigrants in order to win greater support within his base.
