(TheRedWire.com) – President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign released an ad that slammed former President Donald Trump over the rhetoric he used regarding veterans on the weeks of the D-Day landings in Normandy 80th anniversary.
The video titled “What Trump Thinks” spans for a minute and it includes quotes from Trump making negative comments about members of the military. Trump has repeatedly denied some of these comments since they were first posted.
The video also highlights that Trump had previously referred to American veterans whose cemeteries are in France as “losers” and “suckers” in 2018. On Sunday Biden is set to take a visit to that exact cemetery.
In the past Trump has denied that he made those remarks, however, former chief of Staff John Kelly has confirmed his statements. In the video, it is also noted that Trump has in the past mocked then-Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) who had been a Vietnam War prisoner.
In 2017 Trump had also denied that he had told a war widow that her husband had been aware of what he was signing up for.
Michael Tyler, the Biden campaign communications director, pointed out in a statement that the video clearly showed the difference between how Trump and Biden handled veterans and service members.
Tyler continued by noting that in November the choice was obvious and that Trump had not shown any respect to the Americans in the military or the freedoms that many of them sacrificed their lives in defense of. However, as he pointed out, Biden, who is a military father, has shown respect for the military members in the country.
