(TheRedWire.com) – President Joe Biden has received heavy criticism from the Border Patrol over his first visit to a border city. The President visited El Paso, Texas on Sunday.

However, according to reports, prior to Biden’s visit to the border, local and state officials had worked to clean up migrant encampments.

According to a tweet by the National Border Patrol Council, El Paso had been cleared out so that it looked as if there was nothing unusual taking place. They further added that it was convenient for them to have cleaned everything up exactly before Biden visited the border. In a subsequent tweet, they wrote, “We suggest just landing in Des Moines, Iowa, and telling him it’s El Paso. He’ll never know the difference.”

Reports by El Paso Matters and the New York Post also indicated that prior to the President’s visit, both Border Patrol and Law enforcement had increased their patrols and escalated detentions. Furthermore, six buses carrying mainly Venezuelan migrants had been taken from El Paso to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico on Saturday. A Border Patrol agent also noted that on Saturday 200 migrants had been sent back.

Rep. Mayra Flores, R-Texas, also pointed out that the migrant camps that had been set up in the city had been completely cleared out before Biden’s visit. She further added that this was not really a depiction of “what our border community and law enforcement officials are dealing with on a daily basis.”

National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd also told Fox News Digital that officers and agents were currently “beyond frustrated” by the lack of federal support.
