(TheRedWire.com) – The DOJ  has an audio recording of former President Donald Trump talking about one of the classified Pentagon documents that he had taken from the White House according to a CNN report. According to Trump’s comments, the document specifically refers to a potential U.S. attack on Iran. The recording was made during a July 2021 meeting at the former president’s golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey where Trump was discussing with two people who were working on his former chief of staff Mark Meadows’s autobiography.

Trump in the recording referenced the document but stated that he could not show it to them as they did not have the necessary security clearance. He proceeded to allege that the document had come from General. Mark Milley, the outgoing chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In their report, CNN also stated that Trump had not produced the document in question.

Investigators looking into the federal probe into possible mishandling of classified documents by Trump questioned Milley about this incident. The case is currently handled by special counsel Jack Smith who was appointed to oversee both of the Department of Justice’s investigations into former President Donald Trump.

The DOJ  started looking into the case after the National Archives discovered that there were classified materials in the boxes of documents recovered. They later subpoenaed Trump for any additional classified material, which ultimately led to the FBI raiding Mar-a-Lago last August. The meeting in question took place months before the National Archives and Records Administration recovered the first batch of documents from Mar-a-Lago.
