(TheRedWire.com) – Following the discovery of classified documents in a locked cabinet in President Joe Biden’s former office at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., Donald Trump found ammunition to criticize the FBI again over raiding his Mar-a-Lago home last summer.

Trump took to his social media platform to inquire about whether Biden’s private properties were going to be raided as a result of the classified documents that were found. However, there would not be a need for a raid since as soon as Biden’s lawyers found the documents they contacted the National Archives to come to pick up the items so that they could review them.

In Trump’s case, Trump had not returned all classified documents following an official request for them. Therefore, the two cases are not easily comparable as the FBI raid was the only reason why the classified documents from Mar-a-Lago were found.

Jonathan Parker, a senior lecturer in American Studies at Keele University, pointed out that Biden’s case was different as there was “no obstruction or wilful mishandling of documents.” Whether or not the Justice Department deems a further search necessary will depend on what they find after they review the documents.

The raid into Mar-a-Lago has also put the FBI in the middle of the dispute, as former President Trump has said that the FBI is “corrupt” and being weaponized against him. This is why Trump was quick to ask whether the FBI would be raiding the White House or any of the other properties that Biden owns.
