(TheRedWire.com) – Earlier this month, Hunter Biden had filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of New York against Fox News, connected to a program available on its streaming service. In the lawsuit, he alleged that the network was aiming to harass him and destroy his reputation through the program.
However, despite this Biden dropped the suit on Sunday “without prejudice.”
Fox had originally put out a statement relating to the suit in which it argued that the suit was “politically motivated” and did not have any “merit.” The network pointed out that Biden’s complaint was about a program from 2022 but that he had not previously referred to this program until later in April 2024. Within days of the original letter being sent, the network had removed the program.
However, as they pointed out Hunter Biden is a public figure, and most recently became a convicted felon, which is why the network has been covering the newsworthy events relating to him. The network added that they were looking forward to being vindicated in court for their First Amendment right.
Last month, Biden had been found guilty on three federal charges relating to his illegal purchase and ownership of firearms. He is the priest child of a sitting president to have been criminally convicted.
On Sunday, on the day that Hunter Biden withdrew his lawsuit, his father President Joe Biden announced that he is dropping out of the presidential race in November. Since then he has endorsed his vice president Kamala Harris to take over as the Democratic nominee in 2024.
