(TheRedWire.com) – On Monday, President Biden announced that his domestic policy adviser, Susan Rice is going to be stepping down.

Rice has been serving in her role since the start of the Biden administration and has so far had to handle many hard issues including gun violence and the student loan forgiveness program. In the statement issued by Biden, he praised Rice for her work claiming that there is “no one more capable, and more determined to get important things done” than her. He added that what distinguishes her is “the seriousness” that she has when dealing with her role and the “urgency and tenacity” she has had. He further praised Rice for her “integrity, humility, and humor” and stated that he was going to miss her.

While the President did not announce when Rice’s final day at the job would be, according to an NBC report she would be leaving the White House on May 26. This news comes at a time when many reports want Biden to finally be ready to launch his presidential campaign, with some reports claiming that an announcement could come as soon as Tuesday.

Her departure also comes at a time of great controversy over the handling of the situation at the southern border and the immigration crisis. She is set to leave her post only a few months after the new chief of staff Jeff Zients, whom she has known since high school, took on his role.

During the Obama administration, Rice worked as the national security adviser and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
