(TheRedWire.com) – Former President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser, John Bolton, argued that Trump looked “like a thug” in his booking photo.
On Thursday, during an interview on CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Bolton argued that Trump could have “smiled” or “looked benign” in the booking photo, but instead, he looked “like a thug.” Earlier that day, Trump had turned himself into Fulton County Jail, where he was booked on 13 charges following his indictment by a Fulton County grand jury. All charges against him relate to his alleged attempts to overturn the presidential election results in Georgia in 2020.
Following the release of his mug shot, Trump was quick to use this opportunity to fundraise for his 2024 presidential campaign. This is the fourth indictment for Trump this year, but it marks the first occasion his mug shot has been captured. He is also the only U.S. president in history, either current or former, to have had a mugshot.
Bolton argued that Trump’s indictment was helping him build up his support. As he claimed, depending on how former Trump attorney Kenneth Chesebro’s case goes on Oct. 23, when the case is scheduled to be tried, Trump could either be vindicated or have more evidence piled against him.
Chesebro had requested that his case be tried in an expedited timeline. Other defendants in this case have filed to move their cases from the state court to the federal court. This is a demand that Trump’s lawyers are also likely to make in the coming weeks.
