Liz Cheney Accuses Kevin McCarthy of Aligning With Putin
(TheRedWire.com) – In 2019 and 2020, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) quickly moved into the leadership of House Republicans as a highly respected member of the GOP. Yet, she fell from grace with the party and her constituents after voting to impeach former Donald Trump in the wake of the January 6, 2021, riot on Capitol Hill. Her anti-Trump rhetoric even helped land her on the partisan House Select Committee investigating the event. In August, Harriet Hageman soundly defeated her in her bid for re-election in the Wyoming Republican primary. On Sunday, October 23, Cheney came out against House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), accusing him of aligning with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Cheney slammed the potential future Speaker of the House for saying Congress wouldn’t promise to continue sending a blank check in aid to Ukraine in its war opposing Russia. She stated he would align with Russia for political gain. She told NBC “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd that McCarthy always makes decisions based on a political purpose. The anti-Trump Republican stated that the Minority Leader was turning into the head of the pro-Putin wing of the Republican Party and called his ideas dangerous.

Recently, McCarthy said it was important to support Ukraine as it tries to defeat Russia. Yet, he noted that Congress should never give anyone a blank check, especially while the country is $31 trillion in debt. He called for the elimination of wasteful spending.
