(TheRedWire.com) – Political strategist and commentator Van Jones have stated that Ron DeSantis “is not prepared” for what it would entail if he joined the GOP primary fight against former president Trump. He proceeded to advise DeSantis, who has not yet announced his candidacy in the 2024 presidential election, to go low.

Earlier this week, a pro-DeSantis group aired its first TV ad in which they blasted Trump for his recent comments about DeSantis’ stance on Medicare and Social Security.

However, Jones, a CNN political analyst, claimed in an advance clip from Comedy Central’s “Stephen Colbert Presents Tooning Out The News,” that this is not going to work. He added that the problem with DeSantis is that “he doesn’t know how to fight” and that if he believes that he will win a fight against Trump by fighting over Social Security policy then “he hasn’t watched Donald Trump.”

Trump is known for regularly attacking and dragging his opponents. Recently he posted on Truth Social a media post of DeSantis partying with underage girls during his time as a school teacher. An ad from a pro-Trump organization also recently targeted DeSantis and mocked him for eating pudding with his fingers while also criticizing his policies.

Jones argued that for DeSantis to actually win he would need to fight Trump on personal terms. He added that the way to attack Trump is to go “after things he really cares about. He’s a vain man,” he advised, which is why references to his hair, family, and looks will “throw him off his game.”

He added though that DeSantis is not prepared for a fight and that “Unfortunately, that is not in the Ron DeSantis playbook.”
