(TheRedWire.com) – On Friday, a Democratic congressman drew a comparison between the Chinese communist regime’s balloon currently crossing the U.S. and the decision by the Department of Homeland Security to fly blimps over the Arizona border in an attempt to survey the area for both smuggling and trafficking. Rep. Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz., took to Twitter to point out that while people appeared to be currently outraged by the appearance of the balloon, those same people did not appear to be as outraged about the blimps sent over the Arizona border to monitor the area without any community consultation.

He later had to edit the tweet to state that the outrage that people felt was “rightful.”
Chinese officials have maintained that the balloon in question was a civilian craft that had ended up going adrift, which is how it ended up at 60,000 feet above the continental U.S.

The Biden administration has condemned the presence of the balloon and has even proceeded to cancel Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s planned trip to Beijing. They have further stated that this is a violation of both the country’s sovereignty but also of international law.

A Democratic congressman took to Twitter to compare the presence of the balloon to the aerostat blimps operated by Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which were sent over the U.S.-Mexico border in order to survey the area and locate the drug and human traffickers. In 2020, the Trump administration agreed to extend this contract for another five years.
