(TheRedWire.com) – Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) blasted former President Donald Trump over him showing “extreme disrespect” to women.
During an appearance on “PoliticsNation” host Al Sharpton asked Khanna about the recent outcome of the defamation trial against Trump brought forward by E. Jean Carroll. In response, Khanna argued that Trump’s disrespectful behavior towards women had been clear in his policies. She proceeded to claim that the jury in the case had determined that Trump’s disrespect for women had amounted to $80 million.
This was a reference by the lawmaker to the decision made by a New York federal jury on Friday that Trump was required to pay $83.3 million to Carroll for defaming her in 2019 after she had accused him of rape. This was the second time that Trump has been ordered to compensate Carroll over defamatory comments he had made.
Last May, Trump had been ordered to pay $5 million to Carroll after he had been liable for sexually abusing her three decades earlier.
Khanna also pointed out that it was because of the conservative justices that Trump had appointed to the Supreme Court, that Roe v. Wade had been overturned in 2022, striking down the constitutional right to abortion. This has allowed states to limit access to the procedure. She proceeded to argue that President Biden and Vice President Harris have clearly opposed this stance of Trump which would cause him to have problems. She added that even some Republican women had taken issue with the policies that Trump had followed.
