(TheRedWire.com) – Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla., recently criticized Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., for suggesting that aid to Israel should include conditions as the conflict in the Middle East has been escalating. Democrats within the United States are largely divided over the provision of support and funding to Israel.
Sanders, in a statement over the weekend, stated that President Biden needed to push Israel to curb its settlements in the West Bank. He further pushed that the country needed to pledge to end the blockade of Gaza before the United States agreed to release funds and aid to the country.
Conversely, Moskowitz vowed that he would work to ensure that the legislation would not include any such conditions when sent to the House of Representatives. He also stated that he would push to ensure that stricter measures would be included in any measure sent to Gaza.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, over the weekend, Moskowitz stated that he supported Gaza receiving humanitarian aid. However, if Sanders set political requirements for any assistance that would be provided to Israel, then he would be collaborating with the House to remove all of those conditions or to push that if Gaza wanted to receive aid, they would need to get rid of Hamas completely.
Both Sanders and Moskowitz are Jewish.
Moskowitz argued that this was not a game they should be engaging in and that they needed to provide aid to both places instead.
