(TheRedWire.com) – What’s good for the goose ought to be good for the gander as Democrats put former President Donald Trump on trial on Tuesday, February 9. Before Trump left office on January 20, the House impeached him a second time. In the days leading up to the trial, some Senate Republicans pushed back hard. Chief among them was Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY). On Sunday, the junior Kentucky senator told Fox News the trial was a “farce.” He believes Democrats are using a subjective standard, which should be a rallying cry to impeach Senate Majority Chuck Schumer (D-NY), as well.
"If we're going to criminalize speech, and somehow impeach everybody who says, 'Go fight to hear your voices heard,' I mean really we ought to impeach Chuck Schumer then…" – @RandPaul pic.twitter.com/jS77WOUOWY

In 2020, Schumer stood outside the US Supreme Court and threatened conservative Justices. Specifically, he singled out Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, threatening they would “pay the price” if the Court overturned abortion laws. Not long after, a mob showed up at the steps of the Supreme Court. Chief Justice John Roberts took rare action and immediately condemned Schumer’s rhetoric as highly dangerous.
Republicans plan to use Schumer’s inciteful comments, among others, to show their hypocrisy. The theme developing among GOP Senators is that Democrats aren’t interested in accountability or truth. Instead, they are putting Conservatives’ free speech on trial.
