Democrats Unveil New GUN REQUIREMENTS For Americans
(TheRedWire.com) – Whenever there’s an unfortunate and terrifying incident involving a mass shooting, Democrats immediately look for new ways to restrict or control Americans’ Second Amendment rights. On Saturday, May 14, a lone gunman killed 10 people at a Buffalo, New York, grocery store. Now, Senators Cory Booker (D-NJ), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) want to pass new legislation to make it more difficult for Americans to acquire a gun lawfully.
On Thursday, The Hill reported the Senator’s bill would force citizens to obtain a license from the Department of Justice before acquiring a gun. It would also increase the legal age of owning a gun from 18 to 21 years of age. In addition, the Federal Firearm Licensing Act would require prospective gun owners to finish a firearms safety course and hands-on testing to obtain a permit from the DOJ.

Despite the latest attempts by the three Democrats, the bill has little to no chance of making it into law. In a Senate evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans, the Senators don’t have enough, if any, Republican votes to overcome the 60 vote minimum threshold.
Regardless, in a statement to Politico, Booker said Congress must enact ambitious gun legislation now to prevent future mass killings. The question is, would any legislation ever stop someone from harming others?
