(TheRedWire.com) – On Wednesday, prominent trial attorney and former D.C. Democratic Party chair Scott Bolden is going to be hosting a fundraising event for Fani Willis, the Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney who is responsible for the state indictment against former President Donald Trump. The state election interference 13 charges against Trump were filed in August.
The event will be hosted at Bolden’s K Street law office and everyone is encouraged to donate anywhere between $250 and $6,600 to help in Willis’ re-election, according to a copy of the invite obtained and released by The Hill.
Willis was elected in 2020 to become the first woman district attorney in Fulton County. To be elected, she had to beat a six-term incumbent. Willis will be up for reelection next year.
The state election laws in Georgia restrict the contribution for both primary and general elections to $3,300 per election.
This week, Willis predicted that the election interference case will likely go through to the start of 2025. While speaking at The Washington Post Live’s Global Women’s Summit, she stated that the trial was likely to last “many months” and was unlikely to end before late 2024 or early 2025.
In her case, Willis has brought charges against 18 defendants, including Trump and many of his former and current allies. Four defendants have already accepted plea agreements, including three former legal advisers for Trump, Jenna Ellis, Sidney Powell, and Kenneth Chesebro.
