(TheRedWire.com) – Since the start of the year, former President Donald Trump has raised more than $34 million for his 2024 presidential campaign. According to his campaign, close to $20 million of that fundraising, has come from donations following his indictment in a Manhattan court.
Trump’s latest fundraising report with the Federal Election Commission showed Trump has raised more than $18.8 million in the first three months of 2023. Of that amount, $4 million was raised on March 30th alone, which is within the first day of his indictment being announced.
Trump has been charged by a New York court on 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with a hush money payment made prior to his 2016 presidential election. Right after the news of his indictment broke out, Trump tried leveraging the attention by raising money. His campaign revealed that in the time between the announcement of charges and the report filing deadline Trump raised $15.4 million.
While the New York case is the only one to have brought criminal charges against him, he is also facing a number of legal woes relating to other cases of political interference, mishandling classified material, and even business fraud.
Despite all of this Trump manages to remain at the forefront of the 2024 GOP primary and is widely considered to be the candidate to beat. Throughout his legal troubles, many GOP members have also expressed their support for Trump and have claimed that the probe against him was completely politically motivated.
