(TheRedWire.com) – Reps. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Ga.) and Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) who were stripped of their assignments when the House was under Democratic control, will gain new assignments under the Republican House.

Greene had previously lost her committee assignments in February 2021 after the House had voted for her removal. Her removal was a result of her believing and promoting a number of conspiracy theories.

On Tuesday it was announced that Greene would be assigned to the House Homeland Security and Oversight Committees and Gosar to the House Natural Resources and Oversight Committees, this was the same assignment that he had held previously.

The Steering committee, which consists of approximately 30 members of House Leadership and elected regional representatives has approved the assignments.

The House Homeland Security Committee, chaired by Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.), is going to be focusing on the migration crisis and the U.S.-Mexico border. Two staff members will also be working from the border.

Greene recently released a statement in which she noted that the panel’s predominant focus is going to be investigating the Biden administration and any violations they have made both in terms of laws and funding in relation to defending the border. Greene is also one of the GOP Representatives to have called for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to be impeached for his handling of the situation at the border.

Outside of the probe into the border crisis, the House Oversight Committee is also going to launch an investigation into the business dealings of the Biden family.
