(TheRedWire.com) –  On Wednesday, Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) criticized the House Republicans for their continuous attempts to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in “inherent contempt” of Congress while arguing that the resolution brought forward is “stupid.”

On the House floor, McGovern argued that the resolution was stupid. He pointed out that this is something GOP leadership is aware of and that even members of the party knew that this was a “Stupid resolution.” Still, he argued that they were “beholden” to the craziest of MAGA members within their conference.

McGovern pointed out that this is what they are currently dealing with, “stupid resolutions” that end up on the House floor because Republican lawmakers are too scared to stand up against the extremism within the Republican party.

In a video, he later posted from the moment that a House member had moved to have his words struck from the record. In his post on X, he criticized the GOP arguing that they wanted to turn the U.S. Congress “into the Kremlin.”

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) pushed to force a vote on the resolution she had put forward which is going to hold Garland in “inherent contempt” of Congress. As part of the resolution every day that Garland refused to comply with the request to hand over the audio records of the interview with President Joe Biden and special counsel Robert Hur, he would face a fine of $10,000. The House leaders had held a vote attempting to table the measure, which failed causing it to be sent to the Rules Committee, where it also failed.
