(TheRedWire.com) – The Democrats, including President Biden, have been trying to turn the tables and question former President Donald Trump’s fitness to run for office following his recent gaffe during a campaign rally.
Many Biden allies have been sharing a clip of Trump confusing his Republican presidential challenger Nikki Haley with former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) while discussing the Jan. 6 Capitol attack. Biden himself has frequently received criticisms about his mental acuity, especially in relation to his age as he is 81 years old. The Democrats have now fully jumped on board and are using similar criticisms against Trump, 77, following his recent mistake.
While discussing the Jan. 6, Capitol attack Trump had mistakenly argued that it was Haley who was in charge of security for the Capitol.
The Biden campaign in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, stated that Trump appeared to be “deeply confused” as he repeatedly confused Haley and Pelosi.
Similarly, David Axelrod, a former senior Obama White House adviser, also took to X to point out that if Biden had made a similar mistake and had repeatedly confused Gavin Newsom and Kevin McCarthy, Fox News and Trump would have used it against Biden.
Jen Psaki, the former press secretary of the White House pointed out that what was particularly important was the fact that Haley had questioned the mental fitness of Donald Trump following the incident.
Republicans have spent the past few years questioning Biden’s mental acuity and the extent to which he was capable of doing the job. They have also frequently slammed the president over even minor gaffes.
