(TheRedWire.com) – It appears that fellow Democrats Jimmy Panetta (D-CA 20th District) and Ted Lieu (D-CA 33rd District) don’t have much faith or trust in President Biden. The two representatives and 31 others seem to be questioning the president’s mental state enough to want to take the nuclear codes from him exclusively and share them with someone else. However, it might be a stretch too far for the US Constitution, which places the military under the president’s control as Commander-in-Chief. It’s a distinction Constitutionally not shared with anyone else, even the vice president.
Nearly three dozen House Democrats on Monday called on Biden to relinquish his sole authority to launch nuclear weapons, in the latest appeal to reform the command-and-control structure so that no single person can initiate a nuclear war https://t.co/AOIHaYf1b4 pic.twitter.com/OSKJ64d3cW

On Monday, February 22, the Democratic Representatives wrote President Biden a letter expressing concern that past presidents threatened to use nuclear weapons on America’s enemies or demonstrated behavior that created concern about judgment. If that sounds familiar, it’s because it was the same language Democrats used against former President Donald Trump. Their solution is to co-share the nuclear bag with the vice president or speaker of the House.
Panetta and Lieu say they are simply looking for another check and balance to prevent a single person from taking a catastrophic action like launching a nuclear attack.
