(TheRedWire.com) – Rep. Maxwell Frost, D-Fla., has drafted a bill that calls for the removal of the Statue of Liberty following the calls from the House GOP to pass immigration legislation.
On Wednesday, Frost was blasted online for stating that he would be telling the GOP to also pass a bill that would remove the Statue of Liberty when they pass their immigration law.
During a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing the Secure the Border Act, was discussed. The immigration bill which would restrict the asylum process for those who had illegally crossed the border and would continue the construction of the border wall was passed in May.
Many Democrats, including Frost, have blasted the bill. However, he is the only one to create a mock bill in response to that calling for the removal of the Statue of Liberty.
Frost stated while holding up the draft that immigrants deserved better than what they were being given. He argued that instead of welcoming immigrants they were rejecting them and that by pushing the H.R. 2 bill, they should also pass a bill, that he had drafted for them, which would call for the removal of the Statue of Liberty, as it is meant to act as a symbol welcoming people to come to the United States.
He proceeded to say that what they were proposing would remove the “fabric of America” and that he wanted to know which of the Republicans that had backed H.R.2 would introduce his mock bill.
