(TheRedWire.com) – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who joined the presidential race last week, called former President Donald Trump’s mocking nicknames “petty” and “juvenile.” He proceeded to tell Jack Heath on “The Pulse of New Hampshire” that this was not what voters wanted.
In his most recent jab at the Florida governor, Trump had mocked DeSantis’ pronunciation of his last name. In the past, he has also called DeSantis “Ron DeSanctimonious.” DeSantis also added that this behavior exhibited by Trump is the reason why he lost the 2020 presidential election. He added that Trump’s “conduct” was alienating voters and that in the end, it is the reason why he is currently not sitting in the White House. This is also why DeSantis does not engage with this behavior too much.
He proceeded to state that there are “substantive differences” between him and Trump and that while he is willing to give Trump credit for the “great things he did,” he disagrees with Trump’s recent attacks on his policies.
Recently Trump stated that former NY Governor Andrew Cuomo had performed better than DeSantis when it came to handling the pandemic. DeSantis claimed however that many New Yorkers moved to his state during that time because Florida became known as one of the country’s “freedom zones.” He added that his state had also fought the Trump administration in order to ensure that businesses could continue operating and that children would be allowed to be in school.
Following DeSantis’ official launch of his presidential campaign, he has been a lot more forthcoming with his attacks on the former president.
