(TheRedWire.com) – GOP presidential candidate and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has stated that if elected in 2024, he would make big changes to the hiring practices followed by the FBI.
Former President Donald Trump is currently the frontrunner of the 2024 primary race, while DeSantis is trailing behind him. In a recent appearance on the Conservative Review podcast with Daniel Horowitz on Friday, DeSantis pointed out that if he wins the White House, he will completely reform the FBI and return “this government to its rightful owner.” In a previous interview, DeSantis had stated that he would be firing FBI Director Christopher Wray.
In his recent interview, he told Horowitz that there were people from across the nation who would need to come to Washington, D.C., for them to get rid of the holdover appointees and career politicians that have created this swamp. DeSantis added that they would examine the hiring processes these agencies are using and argued that there was a clear problem in agencies like the FBI. He added that while part of the problem was definitely with leadership, a part of it was completely related to recruitment and who was allowed to join these agencies.
In September, a Rasmussen Reports survey found that around 50 percent of voters had agreed with the statement that the “FBI” was a complete danger to the “security of law-abiding” U.S. citizens. Of those, 28 percent strongly agreed with the statement, while 45 percent disagreed.
