(TheRedWire.com) – On Tuesday, Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) slammed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) over his fight with Disney, arguing that this battle against the company is not right for a Republican.

In an interview with Semafor Principals, Christie argued that DeSantis’ actions against Disney make him believe that the Florida governor is not a conservative. He added this does not align with the principles of the country. He questioned where the country is headed if every time someone expressed disagreement the government chose to “punish you.” He added that in his view this is something the liberals would do, but now there is a Republican governor who is doing the same.

DeSantis has not yet announced his intentions for 2024, but he is currently considered a top contender in the GOP primary.

For the past few months, DeSantis has engaged in an ongoing feud with Disney, which operates the Walt Disney World amusement park near Orlando. Specifically, DeSantis has been attempting to punish the company for speaking out against the state’s so-called “Don’t Say Gay” law.

Disney CEO Bob Iger has blasted DeSantis for his actions against the company claiming that they are “anti-business” and “anti-Florida.”

DeSantis has tried replacing the board that oversees Disney’s Florida self-governance with a board that would be more loyal to his administration. However, before the transition, the previous body essentially provided Disney with all the authority before leaving their positions. On Monday, DeSantis announced he is now considering building a prison or another amusement park right next to Disneyland.
