(TheRedWire.com) – On Tuesday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis stated that he would not accept being former President Donald Trump’s running mate even if offered the chance.
During an appearance on the “Wisconsin Right Now” radio show, DeSantis revealed that he did not believe he was a “No. 2 guy”. They argued that he would continue serving as governor rather than become the vice President. He argued that the vice presidency is no role with “any authority.”
DeSantis was then asked whether or not he had considered who could join him as his running mate, to which the Florida governor said that it would be “presumptuous” if he had thought it at this stage. He added that currently, the focus was winning the early primaries.
On Tuesday, DeSantis expressed much criticism for Trump and President Biden while on the “Mark Belling Show,” stating that they could not win suburban women’s votes. He then argued that his state is a “microcosm of the United States” and that supporting different voter demographics is essential for winning.
DeSantis secured his reelection during the 2022 midterm election with a double-digit margin. He also argued that whoever the GOP nominee was would have his support, even if Trump won the race.
A recent NBC News poll last month showed that 51 percent of Republican primary voters support Trump while only 22 percent support DeSantis.
