(TheRedWire.com) – Americans are beginning to experience the pain of vaccine mandates. Airlines are struggling to keep pace with flights and are stranding Americans at airports. While not as practical but equally important, vaccination mandates could impact entertainment viewers’ favorite television shows and movies next. Disney+ recently revived The Mighty Ducks series, and famed star Emilio Estevez reprised his role as Coach Gordon Bombay in the series’ first season.

Unfortunately, it appears Estevez won’t be continuing in the role he played in the 1992 hit movie and the sequels that followed. Disney told Estevez it required full vaccination for actors to begin shooting season 2, “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.” The Golden Globe-nominated actor appears unwilling to undergo the jab per Disney’s vaccination policy. When the 59 year-old-star did not assure the giant entertainment conglomerate that he would happily agree to their terms, they chose not to renew Estevez’s option for the upcoming season.
Sources suggest there could be more to the story than meets the eye. Estevez is also an executive producer of the hit series. Some believe creative differences likely played a role in Disney’s power play.
At this point, there isn’t an industry-wide vaccination mandate. Individual production studies are imposing their own mandates on crews and cast members. In recent days, Estevez wasn’t alone. Ice Cube left the movie set of “Oh Hell No” after he declined to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.
