(TheRedWire.com) – In an interview on Friday on Breitbart, a right-wing publication, former President Donald Trump praised the Democratic Party and claimed that the Republican Party could benefit from learning from their opposition’s unity.

During the interview, Trump discussed the 2024 presidential election, of which he is the frontrunner in the Republican primary presidential race. He was explicitly asked about Democrats and independents, including Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and California Governor Gavin Newsom choosing not to launch a presidential primary challenge against incumbent President Joe Biden. At the same time, Biden has some opposition in the Democratic primary coming from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Marianne Williamson.

In his response, Trump praised the Democrats by stating that the Republicans could learn from the party’s unity. As he pointed out, the Republicans have less unity, which in Trump’s view, results from certain people being in the party, including Mitt Romney.

As he pointed out, the Democratic party will often unanimously vote on things and continue to act unified regardless of what happened. He argued that this is something that the Republicans should also implement.

Trump is currently leading the 2024 Republican presidential primary race, often polling at around 50 percent of support, while all other candidates apart from DeSantis usually cannot hit the double digits. The levels of support for Trump have not waned despite his third indictment this week, which is focused on his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results by claiming widespread election fraud.
