Even Democrats Disagree With Biden, Pelosi Tax Increase

(TheRedWire.com) – While Democrats are the majority in the House and Senate, their margins are razor-thin. In the House, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) can only afford to lose three members on any piece of legislation. She may have a problem because Joe Biden plans to ask Congress for the largest tax increase in US history to support his plan to spend the greatest amount of money ever at one time. He’ll propose a $3 trillion infrastructure bill that is heavy on virtually everything but building roads, bridges, and airports. Now, three Democrats are signaling they may break with Biden and Pelosi.

In 2017, the GOP-led Congress passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. It included a $10,000 maximum deduction on state and local taxes known as SALT. Republicans said constituents needed the limit to lower other personal and business taxes. Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY), and Bill Pascrell (D-NJ) say they won’t go along with Biden’s requested tax increases if Congress doesn’t get rid of state and local tax deduction (SALT).

If the three stick to their guns and Pelosi doesn’t cave to their wishes, the bill has no chance of passing in the House.
