(TheRedWire.com) – Strange things are happening to Russian exiles in the United Kingdom. Several Russians either faced attacks or died under suspicious circumstances, and no one seems to know why. In the latest example, the wife of a former Russian Senator was found dead in her home. In 2007, she came to the UK after Russian authorities arrested her husband on suspicion he murdered the wife of a former business partner. Investigators alleged that Igor Izmestieva had ties to the mafia, and organized 2 terrorist attacks and 14 killings after the collapse of the Soviet Union. He is serving life in prison.

Ira Izmestieva immigrated to London shortly after his trial. She was a mother of two who worked her way into high society. Also known as Irina Ford, her friends discovered her lifeless body on the sofa of her apartment. Her friends say the 52-year-old was in good overall health but was taking cough medication and hadn’t felt well in the days before her passing. In the last several years, Izmestieva has been in a property dispute. At the time of her death, it’s thought that something was breaking in that case.
Another leading Russian exile and close friend of Izmestieva, Evgeny Chichvarkin, said she hopes the authorities investigate thoroughly and that kids, friends, and the community get some resolution.
