(TheRedWire.com) –  According to Brian Sicknick’s family, SCOTUS’s presidential immunity ruling should “frighten” Americans.

The family of Brian Sicknick, a U.S. Capitol Police officer who died a day after the riots where he had been assaulted, wrote a letter to CBS News about the implications of the Supreme Court’s decision regarding Presidential immunity.

Sicknick’s brother, Craig Sicknick, described the court’s decision as “appalling” and added that it “should frighten every citizen of the United States.”

Craig Sicknick also revealed that because of the January 6, 2021 riots, his family has endured “hell.”

Craig Sicknick highlighted the purpose of U.S. courts is to “rule on [the] punishment” of lawbreakers irrespective of “color, gender, wealth, political position, fame” or other differences.

He added that the court’s ruling proved the “concept is false” for the “very wealthy,” who he noted could get away “with whatever they want.”

Since the Supreme Court announced its decision on Monday, Democrats have blasted the ruling as giving Presidents the ability to break the law without consequence.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor brought up similar arguments in her dissenting opinion, warning that the ruling might embolden a corrupt executive to take revenge on political opponents without fearing consequences.

In the letter, Sicknick suggested the Supreme Court’s decision could doom America.

Sicknick suggested “the damage” former President Donald Trump “has done to our nation… may heal” and the U.S. could “move forward,” becoming a “better, stronger nation,” the Supreme Court’s decision has possibly “doomed ‘The Great Experiment’ that was the United States of America.”
