(TheRedWire.com) – California Democratic Governor Newsom slammed Florida Governor DeSantis, discussed Donald Trump’s indictment, and referred to President Biden’s fitness to run for a second term during a sit-down interview with Sean Hannity. This is the first time that Newsom has had an interview with Fox News since 2010.
During the interview, Newsom rejected those who had called his claims about the migrant crisis hypocritical, pointing out that there was a critical difference between the federal government deciding to transport illegal immigrants around the country and DeSantis choosing to fly illegal immigrants to liberal areas such as Martha’s Vineyard.
In the clips that have already been shared from the interview, which is expected to air on Monday on “Hannity”, Newsom stated that DeSantis’ actions were a “stunt.” He criticized him, saying his behavior was “embarrassing; pathetic.”
Hannity, however, argued that DeSantis had acted properly as Florida was not a sanctuary state. Newsom responded to that by telling Hannity to give him a break and that DeSantis had not been doing this “Out of the goodness of his heart.”
In terms of Biden’s reelection campaign, Newsom opposed those who claim that Biden is not cognitively in a position to serve for a second term, adding that he had been with the president on Air Force One and that he has not seen Biden have any issues.
Finally, Newsom offered some praise to former President Donald Trump, stating that he had closely collaborated with him during the pandemic and that the former President had “played no politics during the pandemic with California.”
