FBI Knew About Mass Shooter Before He Opened Fire

(TheRedWire.com) – In what has become an all too familiar refrain, the FBI was aware of the man who killed 10 people on Monday, March 22, in Boulder, CO. It appears the nations’ top law enforcement agency knew of Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa due to an investigation into another individual connected with the lone gunman.

Alissa’s motives for the killing spree are unknown. However, his brother said the suspect was struggling with mental illness, paranoia, and antisocial behavior. Alissa was a known criminal with a rap sheet that included misdemeanor assault in 2018. He had other interactions with police, including allegations ranging from simple assault to criminal mischief. However, there does not seem to be any public record of recent encounters with law enforcement or the nature of the FBI’s encounter with the gunman before his horrific actions.

FBI Director Christopher Wray told a Senate committee in early March that the Bureau didn’t have the resources to handle all known threats. Perhaps that explains how he fell through the cracks?
