Finance Giant Refuses To Help Trump in 2024
(TheRedWire.com) – As America looks forward to the 2024 presidential election, some big-dollar GOP donors are openly stating they will not back Donald Trump for president in the 2024 GOP primary. On Tuesday, November 15, the former president announced he was again running for the White House in 2024. Blackstone CEO Steve Schwarzman stands among those who once backed him and now aren’t.
The morning after Trump’s big announcement, Schwarzman said in a statement that America does better when its leaders are “rooted in today and tomorrow, not today and yesterday.” He emphasized it’s time for the Republican Party to seek out younger leaders and stated he would support one of them in the presidential primary.

In 2020, the finance mogul gave $3 million to America First Action, a PAC that supported Trump’s re-election bid. He and his wife gave over $35 million during the midterm elections to GOP congressional candidates.
After the January 6, 2021, riot on Capitol Hill, Schwarzman blasted the occurrence of what he called an “insurrection” after Trump spoke that day and said it was an insult to democratic values.
Other big donors bailing on Trump recently included Citadel CEO Ken Griffin, who gave $100 million to Republicans in the 2018 midterm elections. He said if Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis runs for the White House, he’ll throw his support behind the popular governor.
