(TheRedWire.com) – On Sunday during an appearance on CBS, Senator Sinema stated that she would never consider joining the Republican Party. This statement comes months after she left the Democratic party to become an Independent.

In her interview with moderator Margaret Brennan, Sinema discussed how the two political party system in the country was broken and pointed out that both of the parties are now moving towards extremes. She added that in the current political climate, there is less openness and tolerance towards those with differing opinions.

As she claimed it is up to each individual to think for themselves and claimed that it was an important part of Democracy for people to do so.

Brennan proceeded to ask Sinema whether she was completely done with both parties, to which Sinema stated “Absolutely.” When Brennan continued to push, asking if she would consider becoming a Republican, Sinema said “No” while stating that there was not enough time for her to even cover all the ways that the current system is broken.

Sinema, who left the Democratic party last year, is running for re-election in 2024 as an Independent. In an interview with CNN, she mentioned that she does not fit within “any party box.” She added that leaving the partisan structure allowed her to remain true to herself and to how she operates. She further touted her efforts to foster bipartisanship in recent legislation including the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Respect for Marriage Act, and the Electoral Reform Count Act.
