(TheRedWire.com) – In July 2016, many Americans were outraged when then-FBI Director James Comey revealed former Secretary of State and then-Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was careless with classified communications over non-secure personal email servers. On Friday, February 18, Special Counsel John Durham filed court documents alleging Clinton’s campaign fabricated the Russian collusion story to distract from her email scandal. Ultimately, the campaign reportedly convinced the Obama Justice Department to investigate the matter. In 2019, the Mueller report said there was no evidence Trump or his campaign colluded with Russia.
To many, that’s a massive scandal. Clinton allegedly used the government to legitimize a fabricated story to hide behind while falsely accusing an opposing candidate of breaking the law. Still, Washington Examiner editor Byron York said on Fox News that Durham’s report was thin on substance but heavy on accusations. York said he didn’t read much into the report, but he acknowledged that to this point, Durham’s investigation has disappointed many Republicans and Trump supporters.

According to York, conservatives who feel wronged by Clinton set their expectations too high on Durham. He added that many would not be happy with anything less than federal authorities walking Comey or Clinton out of the door in handcuffs. The conservative editor said he didn’t believe that would ever happen.
