(TheRedWire.com) – On Sunday, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu opposed the argument made by former President Donald Trump regarding the president being granted “total immunity” and argued that these views should be concerning to everyone.
When asked on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sununu stated that he did not agree that the President needed to be given total immunity for things that were crossing the line. Sununu was specifically shown Trump’s remarks from his New Hampshire weekend rally where he had argued that the U.S. president needed to be given immunity so that he was able to act in the way that he and his advisors viewed as right.
Sununu stated that what he found “amazing” about that clip was how “dead serious” the President was. He added that Trump was not trying to make “one of his ridiculous jokes” and that he had been “dead serious.” As he said, regardless of what party someone was in, or whether they were liberal or conservative, everyone needed to be concerned about someone with this “type of mentality” being in the White House.
Sununu has backed GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley for the presidency, however, earlier this month he argued that he would back whoever the Republican presidential nominee was, even in the case that Trump ended up convicted in one of the cases against him.
NBC anchor Kristen Welker asked how Sununu would support Trump given his disagreement with his arguments. Sununu in response argued that the majority of Republicans would support the GOP nominee.
