(TheRedWire.com) – GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik from New York had filed a complaint for judicial misconduct of a federal judge that has overseen a number of Jan. 6 cases.
On Friday, Stefanik made the filing when she called for an ethics probe to be launched against U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell over a speech she had made in November, which she deemed to be a “highly inappropriate political speech.”
Stefanik, a strong ally of former President Donald Trump, first submitted the complaint to D.C. Court of Appeals Chief Judge Sri Srinivasan. The incident referred to in the complaint had occurred on November 27 at the Women’s White Collar Defense Association (WWCDA) gala.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Stefanik noted that the reason for her complaint was that judges interfering with the elections was destroying the Republic. She further pointed out that this practice was “illegal” and that it needed to come to an end.
She proceeded to point out that in her speech, Howell had insinuated that if former President Donald Trump won back the White House, it would lead to fascism in the country. She added that Howell had put on public display her relation with members of the Biden administration, including the Deputy Attorney General supervising the criminal prosecutions related to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack. She then pointed out that Howell was claiming the importance of facts, and Stefanik had regularly seen big lies affecting the sentencing of those involved in the Capitol attack.
