(TheRedWire.com) – Florida Representative Matt Gaetz (R) is pushing for Congress to launch a probe into U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan claiming that she had conducted her court with partisanship when dealing with Jan. 6, 2021 cases.

Chutkan has been assigned former President Donald Trump’s case relating to his indictment over his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election and his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack. Prior to her assignment, Chutkan had made national news over the sentences she had handed to participants in the Jan. 6, Capitol riot, with her sentences being far harsher than those federal prosecutors had recommended.

Gaetz in his resolution is also claiming that Chutkan had been supportive of the 2020 Black Lives protests, some of which had turned violent, despite her repeated criticisms of the Capitol riot.

The resolution he introduced in the house is not only calling for the House Judiciary Committee to investigate her contact but also to censure Chutkan.
Gaetz revealed to Fox News Digital that it was concerning to see a judge who had acted with such bias on the bench and that she had disregarded her duty to apply the law fairly with her partiality in certain cases.

One of the particular instances that the resolution focuses on comes from Oct. 4, 2021, when Chutkan had during a sentencing hearing opposed the comparison between the Capitol riot and the Black Lives Matters protests that started following the death of George Floyd.

Many of Trump’s allies in Congress as well as the former President have accused Chutkan of making politically motivated decisions before.
