(TheRedWire.com) – Devon Archer, Hunter Biden’s former business associate and board member of Burisma Holdings, responded to Republican lawmakers following their attempts to have him testify before Congress.
Archer, who had been a board member of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company along with Hunter Biden, gave his testimony to the House Oversight Committee in a closed-door meeting on Monday. GOP lawmakers had been trying to get Archer to testify. However, he had previously failed to appear before Congress three days earlier.
The Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer had previously tried to schedule Archer’s deposition before June 16. His testimony is part of the GOP’s ongoing investigation to see whether President Biden was in any way connected to Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings. According to recent allegations, President Biden had been involved in a bribery scheme, using his position to influence foreign policy in exchange for helping Hunter Biden’s career grow. However, the White House and President Biden have denied that he had any connection to Hunter Biden’s business dealings.
Comer argued that the testimony given by Archer would be an important part of the investigations into Hunter Biden as Archer was involved in many of the transactions and foreign companies in which Hunter Biden had been engaged. They argued further that Archer would help the Committee better understand Biden and his family’s role when it came to each corporate entity.
GOP lawmakers on the oversight panel argued in a Twitter thread that Archer’s testimony was proof that President Biden had lied when he claimed not to know anything about Hunter Biden’s business dealings.
