(The Red Wire) – Fact is often more shocking and horrifying than a horror film could ever be. Such is the case with the “Houston House of Horrors.” In mid-October, three starving children were discovered living in a squalid apartment with the remains of their brother.
An Abusive Household
Gloria Williams and her boyfriend, Brian Coulter, are both imprisoned for the shocking tragedy that took place at their former home, but how did they get there? Reports are that Coulter was routinely abusive towards Williams’s children, especially when he drank.
In November 2020, Coulter’s abuse proved deadly. He beat and kicked eight year old, Kendrick Lee to death. Then Williams and Coulter moved into a new residence so they wouldn’t have to be around the rotting corpse.
Life as Usual
Williams claims that she did not go to the police for fear she would lose her other children or face criminal charges. Instead, she claims that she visited her three children every other week. She also occasionally dropped off junk food and other supplies.
Meanwhile, Williams and Coulter acted as if nothing was wrong. Williams gushed over her boyfriend, including pictures of his Valentine’s Day gifts to her. Coulter actively posted on social media about food and how much he loved his family.
The Police Were Called
After months of living in an unfurnished, roach-infested apartment with a rotting corpse, Williams’s oldest son had enough. 15-year-old Ja’Veon Kirklin called the cops. When the police arrived, they were met with three severely malnourished boys and the corpse. One of the sons who is alive also had recently suffered a broken jaw at the hands of Coulter.
At this time, Williams’s three sons are in the care of child protective services. Williams faces charges of injury to a child by omission and tampering with evidence. Coulter is facing first-degree murder charges for the death of Kendrick Lee.
