(TheRedWire.com) – Social media and news outlets across the country were on fire after it was widely reported the Biden administration and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) planned to hand out “safe smoking kits” to drug addicts. Implementing the federal grant is expected to cost taxpayers up to $30 million.
According to reports, anyone applying for the grant would be prioritized under an executive order promoting racial equity. The applicants would most likely come from underserved communities, including African Americans and people from the LGBTQ+ community.

Many conservative critics took to social media expressing their views on the grant program, especially after Snopes, a fact-checking organization, declared it was “Mostly False” the Biden administration and DHS were going to distribute crack pipes to drug addicts to advance racial equity.
Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, posted on social media saying it should not be easier to get drug paraphernalia in America than Ivermectin.
Xavier Becerra, HHS Secretary, and Dr. Rahul Gupta, director the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) released a statement saying their departments are focused on using their resources to save lives and reduce the risk of harm.
They said they are working in conjunction with the Biden administration to curb drug addictions and stop the spread of drugs by distributing clean syringes, fentanyl test strips, administering naloxone, and going after drug dealers responsible for spreading the drugs.
